15 Apr Round of Applause for Mommy Mentors
Mommy Mentor Jenn only got to meet with her Mom and meet her kids a couple days before social restrictions were enforced due to COVID-19. Because of social distancing and the call to self-quarantine, Jenn was unable to meet with the family, play with the kids, hold the baby, or even help with the laundry. This didn’t stop her, though! Jenn has continued to connect with her Mom via frequent text messages. She also recently shared a Zoom call with the kids and read them a story so Mom could tackle her ever growing list of daily chores. We’re so grateful for Jenn’s resourcefulness and creativity and to all her fellow Mommy Mentors who continue to connect with the families they are serving!
Another Mommy Mentor read storybooks to the young kids in another family over FaceTime this weekend giving mom a much-needed break. And yet another one of our Mentors is volunteering at Lane County Health manning the Covid19 nurse hotline!
Our Mentors are going above and beyond, finding new ways to support our families in the program. While we all have been reaching out and working to meet physical needs, many Mentors have also taken the initiative on their own. They are generously donating and delivering food, toilet paper, diapers and more to the families they’re involved with. We are so grateful to all our Mommy Mentors and for their commitment to the families they serve!
