When we started dreaming up opportunities for training and community programs for families being served by Safe Families Lane County we got really excited about the idea of an Easter Egg hunt. Visions of young kids and toddlers racing across a vast green lawn searching for brightly colored eggs filled out heads.

We were excited about the opportunity for Host and Mommy Mentor families to have a connection point with one another in a beautiful spring setting. And then COVID-19 hit. Like many other organizations and services we had to cancel many of our events and shift our calendars. But as the days passed, and Easter approached,  we realized that maybe our families could still enjoy a little egg hunt. We had the treats, we had the eggs – all we needed were some boxes!

Kid with Easter Eggs

This month every family served by the Mommy Mentor program and host families serving small children received a Easter Egg Hunt kit in the mail. The boxes included eggs filled with finger puppets, bath toys, musical shaker eggs, and some sweet treats for the parents. Our hope is that our families will be able to celebrate the joy of Easter together with the help of these fun, colorful boxes. Our prayer is that as they enjoy time together as they play, celebrate, and for a little while forget the fear and emotional heaviness during this stressful season.

Easter is meant to be a time of hope & happiness. Please join us in praying that our families will receive a glimpse of that hope with these simple boxes
